Tween Readin’

Until recently, book orders from school were a fond, but distant memory. In the past week, I’ve come into contact with book orders on at least 3 separate occasions; on the most recent occasion I decided I had to sit down and flip through the book order, reading and writing down appealing books. Wanna know something cool? They now have a teen book club book order! I don’t know about you, but that’s pretty exciting to me. Anyway, enough rambling, here are some books I found in said book order that I cannot wait to read.

1) Between Shades of Gray – Ruta Sepetys
The story of a 15 year old girl struggling to survive in 1941 after she is deported to Siberia with her mother and brother. This brave girl attempts to use art to hide messages, hoping they will reach her father, who has been sentenced to death and is in a prison camp.

2) Mockingbird – Kathryn Erskine
An 11 year old girl with Asperger’s copes with life following the death of her brother.

3) Girl, Stolen – April Henry
A young girl who is blind and has pneumonia is accidentally kidnapped. When the kidnapper finds out who she is, he realizes there is good reason to keep her.

4) No Man’s Land – S.T. Underdahl
A young boy must help his family realize that his brother is not okay after he returns from a tour with the National Guard, and begins sleeping with a pistol.

5) Before I Die – Jenny Downham
A teen struggling with leukaemia decides to experience everything on a to do list before she passes.
