Fried Bread

Tonight was my first time ever hearing of fried bread. I work with a young Inuit girl and tonight we had Bannock bread making at a local Inuit center. Definitely an interesting experience! This bread was so easy to make, and so customizable! You can put anything in this bread!! We made some plain, some with raisins and some with chocolate chips.

Here’s the recipe we used:

2cups flour
1tbs baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2cup milk
1/2cup water

Combine all ingredients until just mixed. Make into just smaller than tennis balls, coat in flour and flatten. Heat canola oil or lard (traditionally seal fat) in a frying pan on the stove. Drop balls in and fry until golden brown on both sides.

Man, these were freaking delicious. Have you made these before? Will you try them after reading this?
